Bhubaneswar: BJD MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra on Monday refuted reports that there are differences between him and party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on certain party matters, especially the choice of Ranendra Pratap (Raja) Swain as the candidate for the March 18 by-election from the Athagarh Assembly constituency.
Mohapatra pointed at a section of the BJD leaders and some leaders of Opposition for trying to create an impression in the public that there has been some issues between him and Mr. Patnaik.
Apart from this Mohapatra said, he had never opposed Raja Swain’s candidature in the Athgarh by-election during his discussions with the Chief Minister.
When asked about the campaigning at Athgarh, Mohapatra said, there is no need of 33 star campaigners whose name have been listed for campaigning at Athgarh. The Sankha (conch, the BJD symbol) is already the winner in the by-election before the voting. No star party campaigner, except the Chief Minister, is needed to campaign in Athagarh to ensure the party’s victory.
