Gangster Raja Acharya convicted on Tuesday
Bhubaneswar: Justice has finally been delivered in the Leslie Tripathy threatening case of 2008. Gangster Raja Acharya has been sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment in jail by a local court, Bhubaneswar today.

Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) P K Pradhan has convicted Raja after holding him guilty under section 505 of IPC.

As many as five prosecution witnesses were examined in the due course of trial in the case spanning about four years.

It is noteworthy to mention that Raja Acharya has already been sentenced to life imprisonment by a fast track court in Bhubaneswar in 2010.

The court had convicted Raja Acharya and his aide Chagala in the sensational Judo Coach Biranchi Das murder case under sections 302 (murder), 120(B) (conspiracy), 34 (common intention) of IPC and section 25 and 27 of Arms Act ordered them to fine of Rs. 10,000 each.

Meanwhile Raja’s lawyer Swagat Rai said that he would appeal against the judgement in the higher court.
