Bhubaneswar: Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre organised a cultural show in memory of Padma Shri Pankaj Charan Das, who is revered as the `guru of gurus’ in Odissi dance and late Guru Singhari Shyam Sundar Kar.
The evening started with the musical performance by Odissi music exponent Biswanath Pujapanda. The next performance was by Shyamamani Devi. Later Lata Ghosh presented ‘Dake Dukhe Hatha Jodi Jagannath’.
Pankaj Charan’s daughter Bijaylaxmi Das paid rich tribute to the ‘adi guru’ through her impressive performance and stole the limelight of the evening. She mesmerized the audience with her ekak ‘Shankarabharanam Pallavi’, choreographed by Guru Pankaj Charan Das.
In her `Abhinaya’ number she performed `Nahi Ke Karidela’. The next performance of the evening was ‘Nabadurga’ by Odissi danseuse, Suhag Nalini Das, daughter-in-law of Adi Guru Pankaj Charan Das.
The next performance of the evening was group dance performance ‘Om Namaha Shivaya’ by the artistes Guru Pankaj Charan Das Odissi Research Foundation.
Noted Odissi dancer Dr. Minati Mishra, Odissi exponent Priyambada Mohanty Hejmadi, Debadutta Samantsinhar, former Secretary, Orissa Sangeet Natak Akademi, Shri Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Principal Secretary, Tourism & Culture Department, Guru Ramahari Das, Odissi vocalist-composer graced the evening as the guests.
