Bhubaneswar: A five-day National Odissi dance fest on New Creations in Odissi Dance will kick off at Bhanja Kala Mandap, Bhubaneswar from tomorrow.
The festival will be inaugurated by the Union Minister for Tourism Subodh Kant Sahay.
The festival is organised by Sankalp, a Delhi based cultural organisation working for promoting and propounding original creations in Indian classical dances to provide artisitic manifestations to diversity of cultural expressions.
Kasturi Patnaik, Programme Director in a press meet on Sunday said that the festival will showcase performance by both established and young artists and would comprise of solo, duet and group performances.
The solo dance would be presented by Kasturi Patnaik, Aruna Mohanty, Sangeeta Das, Meera Das and Anandi Ramachandran.
In addition to this solo dance would also be performed by artistes in the junior group by Geetanjali Acharya, Gaurishankar Dash, Pravat Kumar Swain and Japan-based dancer Ayumi Hamawaki.
Rosalini Srichandan and Pallavi Das, Subash Chandra Swain and Monalisa Pradhan, Dona Ganguly and Raghunath Das, Manoranjan Pradhan and Minati Pradhan will present duet.
Group dance performance will be presented by the artistes of Srjan group led by Ratikanta Mohapatra, Odisha Dance Academy group led by Aruna Mohanty, Diksha Manjari group led by Dona Ganguly, Art Vision Group led by Illeana Citaristi and Sankalp group led by Kasturi Patnaik.
