Bhubaneswar: Sri Ram Navmi, the birthday of Lord Ram, was celebrated with devotional and traditional gaiety in the State capital on Sunday.
People offered prayers at homes and in temples of Lord Rama. Thousands of devotees came to offer their prayers to Lord Ram, Lakshman and Devi Sita at Ram temple. The idols were richly decorated with flowers.
Devotees were seen standing in long queues throughout the day to have a glimpse of the deities. The roads leading to Ram temple witnessed traffic jams in the afternoon, causing inconvenience to the public. Moreover police had a tough time in controlling the situation in the evening as the crowd swelled at the temple towards the evening.
Apart from this public gathering and satsangs were the main attraction on this auspicious occasion.
