Bhubaneswar: With Maoists releasing Italian tour operator Paolo Bosusco, Kousalya, wife of the abducted BJD MLA Jhina Hikaka on Thursday appealed the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) to release her husband safely, who has been in their captivity since March 24.
“The Maoists didn’t have any personal enmity with my husband. They have taken him so that their demands are met, I want to tell them that he is an honest man and they should free him and send him back safe and sound, I have my trust in the state government, they are trying their best… the Chief Minister has assured me that my husband will be brought back safely,” she said.
Apart from this Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had again appealed to the Maoists on Thursday to release the MLA at the earliest. “I plead the Maoists to release our MLA immediately…his entire family is waiting for him.”
It is noteworthy to mention that the group of rebels who had held captive the Italian national Paolo Bosusco released him on Thursday. But the other group of rebels who had abducted Hikaka, on March 24 from the Koraput district had demanded the release of 30 rebels to facilitate the release of Hikaka.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who is scheduled to attend a high-level review meeting with the senior officials from the administration and the police on the abduction issue at Koraput is expected to meet the family members of the abducted Laxmipur MLA Jhina Hikaka during his visit today.
