Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Tuesday condemned the 25 percent hike in parcel charges by Indian Railways, and urged the centre to roll back the hike.

In a statement issued here, Jayalalithaa said: “Common people would take parcels with them when they travel by train. The rate hike affecting the common man should be withdrawn by the centre.”

She said the railways hiked the freight by 25 percent just before the budget session of the parliament which was inflationary.
