Bhubaneswar: The Justice A.S. Naidu Commission of enquiry probing into the February 2012 liquor tragedy of Cuttack and Khurda districts on Friday issued notices to at least 29 persons including the Collectors of both the districts to file affidavits.
Among others the former police commissioner, two DCPs of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, Excise Commissioner and the drugs controller were also issued notices by the enquiry commission, under Section 8 of Commission of Enquiry Act as the Commission felt that names of these officers have found in the affidavits filed by different witnesses.
The Commission has also asked the Excise Commissioner to give details about the amount of ethyl alcohol procured in the State for last two days for the purpose of preparing medicines.
Apart from this the drugs controller has also been asked to provide details about the medicine companies which procure alcohol for preparing which category of medicines and of what quantity.
The officers have been asked to file their affidavits by July 14.
