Bhubaneswar: Lakhs of devotees converged on Odisha’s temple town of Puri on Saturday to witness the golden attire (SunaVesha) of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra on amid tight security.
The servitors brought rare and precious jewelleries including giant limbs like feet, hands and insignias like mace, lotus, wheel and conch, giant gold tiaras (kiriti), a number of special necklaces and garlands,’kundalas'(earrings) and chest guards, from the temple treasury to the rathas amid tight security and dressed the three deities simultaneously on the three rathas.
A three layer security arrangement was done by the admiistration around the three rathas while the Sunavesha was in progress.
The deities would spend two more nights on the rathas. Today they would be entertained with Adharpana a special drink and on Monday the lord Jagannath would present Rasgollas to his consort angry Mahalaxmi as she was left out in the pleasure ride to appease her to open the door.
Late in the night the lords would be escorted into the Ratnasimhasan of the sanctum sanctorum of the Main temple in ceremonial Pahandi.
