Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) Unit-1 at Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS), Banahrpalli, Dist- Jharsuguda which was taken off the grid w.e.f. mid night of 1st July 2012 for annual overhauling has been synchronized to the grid today.
As confirmed from the OPGC authorities, the above 210 MW unit was taken on annual outage in consultation with GRIDCO and the overhauling was completed in 19 days against the scheduled time of 21 days.
The above maintenance work was carried out under the supervision of OEM experts and OPGC maintenance team led by Director (Operation). As a part of preventive maintenance and to enhance reliability of the plant, replacement and servicing of various critical equipments including UPS and DCS battery system and turbine governing system were taken up and completed successfully.
The completion of the overhauling work two days ahead of the scheduled time of 21 days was possible with relentless efforts of the O&M engineers and all the employees and support staff of the ITPS under the able guidance of the Director (Operation). MD OPGC has congratulated O&M team and all the employees of ITPS on this achievement.
The return of the Unit-1 to the grid has come as a relief to the state currently passing through a difficult phase of power situation entailing load shedding as reported yesterday.
