Bhubaneswar: It was rain outside and inside the auditorium. The three-day festival ‘Megha Utsav’ was a visual treat ensembing different calssical and traditional music. Under the aegis of Department of Tourism & Culture, Government of Odisha, the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademy organised this festival celebrating the monsoon through Literature, Painting, Dance & Music. Earlier in the day the Odisha Sahitya Akademy organised a literary meet and Lalit Kala Akademy organised Artists Camp on rain in Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya.
The inaugural evening of the Utsav at Rabindra Mandap began with the performance of eminent Odissi Singer, Composer and Scholar Guru Ramahari Das, who presented the rendition blending beautifully the compositions of the great poet Kalidas, Jayadev, Jagannath Das and Padamanav. His rendition was emotionaly appealing and intellectually satisfying. He regaled the audience by his emotional communication.
This was followed by the performance of eminent Rabindra Sangeet Singer Smt. Pramita Mallick from Kolkata who enchanted the audience by her mellifluous voice, depicted perfectly in Rabindra Sangeet.
The concluding performance of the evening was a much awaiting presentation by internationally reputed Hindustani Classical Singer Smt. Shubha Mudgal. She had a veried repertoir of Thumuri, Chaiti, Kajari and Dadra welcoming the rain through elaboration of refrain and exposing effectively the mood of the Rag and its delineation. Skill and creativity with various emotions and stresses marked the perfect presentation of Smt. Mudgal. She was accompanied by Dr. Aneesh Pradhan on Tabla and Sudhir on Hermonium.
