Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, during his meeting with Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in New Delhi on Friday demanded deployment of additional central armed forces to tackle the growing Naxalite threat in the State.
Patnaik demanded deployment of two more batallions of central armed force and two more helicopters for the state to tackle the Naxalite threat.
“Our requirement of two more batallions of central armed force for the state should be urgently met” Patnaik said after meeting Shinde.
The Home Minister has assured the Chief Minister of considering the demand favourably, officilal sources said.
Apart from this Patnaik also demanded the release of the pending claims of Rs 126 crore for reimbursement for security related expenditure quickly besides seeking enhancement of funds under the Integrated Action Plan (IAP) programme.
