Bhubaneswar: Activists of India Against Corruption (IAC) on Sunday managed to reach the entry gate of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and demonstrated near Patnaik’s residence here over the alleged coal scam, demanding his resignation.
Responding to the Friday call of IAC leader Arvind Kejriwal to stage protest outside Patnaik’s residence in protest against his stand on coal block allocation, several IAC activists gathered at the lower PMG.
Several activists shouted slogans and held placards against corruption and black money stashed abroad. They also hit out at the BJD government in the State alleging large scale corruption in mining activities and allotment of coal blocks.
However, the activists were rounded up by police in three batches as and when they appeared at the CM’s residence. Several activists were taken under preventive detention and were later let off.
“Our volunteers will continue their demonstration in phases,” Nishikant Mohapatra of the IAC said.
