india-odishaBhubaneswar: In a frightful reminder of 2010, when the H1N1 virus claimed as many as 32 lives in Odisha, the state government on Saturday confirmed the first case of swine flu in the State this year.

A 26-year-old woman admitted in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar has been found positive for the Influenza A virus, sources said.

The Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), the only bio-security lab for such tests in the State, has confirmed to the government that laboratory test of samples taken from the woman has tested positive for H1N1.

Sources said, a few more suspected cases of H1N1 will be sent today. Meanwhile, with the monsoon still on, the comeback of the H1N1 could be a cause of worry for the Health Department. Since the flu reaches a peak of its infection stage during winter, the Health Department has already alerted the districts.
