Bhubaneswar: After the detection of first case of Swine flu in the State this year on Saturday, the H1N1 virus scare has hit the State with the second case detected on Sunday after a 51-year-old woman resident of Jagatsinghpur district tested positive.
The 51-year-old woman, was undergoing treatment in the same private hospital in Bhubaneswar, from where the first case was detected and is beleived to have contracted the virus from the first patient.
As many as six suspected samples of H1N1 were sent to the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), the only bio-security lab for such tests in the State for test on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Health Department has already alerted the districts to screen the cases and send samples for testing.
It is noteworthy to mention that in 2010, the H1N1 virus had claimed as many as 32 lives in the State.
