Bhubaneswar: Heavy showers triggered by a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal lashed several parts of coastal and southern Odisha on Monday, throwing the normal life out of gear.
The day witnessed a spurt in rainfall throughout the State. Some places got heavy rain, while Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Kendrapara, Puri, Ganjam, Sonepur, Jharsuguda witnessed sporadic showers.
Apart from this many low-lying areas in the twin city of Bhubaneswar – Cuttack, were also inundated due to incessant showers.
The Met Department has predicted heavy showers for the State in next 48 hours along with a warning to fishermen, who have been asked not to venture into the sea for the next 24-hours.
