Bhubaneswar: Seven Maoists, including three women, were arrested during a combing operation by the Special Operation Group (SOG) personnel in the dense forest near Kamalpada in Koraput district on Thursday.
The operation was planned after the police received an intelligence input regarding the rebels present in the forest.
The rebels are the members of Koraput-Srikakulam divisional committee of the Maoists and are allegedly involved in several criminal activities in the district.
Security personnel recovered two guns, around 20 kg of gelatine sticks, three pairs of Maoists uniforms, Maoist banners and posters from the spot.
Meanwhile combing operations have been intensified in Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon areas, in an effort to put a check on Maoist operations, sources said.
