The decision was taken in a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Wednesday.
In the first phase, about 25-30 services would be put under the purview of the new law. The government plans to bring as many as 75 services offered by 11 government departments under the ambit of the act later.
It is noteworthy to mention that the act was approved earlier during the monsoon session of the state assembly and has the provision of penalising officials if they fail to provide services to citizens within the stipulated time period.
The services which will come under the new law include issuance of birth and death certificates, caste certificate, income certificate, electricity connection, water connection and ration card, among others.
