Earlier, BJD supremo Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressing his disappointment over the announcement of the diesel price hike, had demanded an immediate withdrawal of the Centre’s decision to increase in diesel prices and restriction on the supply of cooking gas.
Patnaik had also flayed the cap on subsidised cooking gas cylinders to just six cylinders in a year for each household.
The BJD activists on Friday had also staged a demonstration at the Rajmahal square over the issue and had burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
