Bhubaneswar: A Congress delegation on Saturday met DGP Prakash Mishra, taking strong exception to the release of photographs of 36 suspects by the police for their alleged involvement in the violence during the Parivartan rally of Congress on September 6.

The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) team conveyed to the DGP that the display of photographs of certain people suspected to be involved in the incident in various police stations is illegal as it portrays them as criminals before the public.

Party’s media cell in-charge and former law minister Narsingh Mishra sought immediate removal of such photographs and immediate release of all the persons who have been arrested by the police in connection with the rally.

The Congress leaders also brought to the notice of the DGP that the statements by IAS Officer Association, Police Officer Association against the party in front of the media also violates Police Forces (Restriction of Rights) Act 1966.

The Congress team also demanded the registration of ther FIR’s filed by the Congress leaders and demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident.
