The fate of the inquiry was left uncertain, following the death of justice Sarat Chandra Mohapatra, who passed away on May 12, 2012.
The State Government had appointed the one-member Justice Mohapatra commission on September 3, 2008, to inquire into the incident that had claimed around 100 lives and had rendered thousands homeless.
