anti-maoist-operationKoraput: Security forces on Sunday stumbled upon a huge cache of landmine making materials stocked by Maoists in a forested area near Jhumuka village, under Bandhugaon police limits in Koraput district, during a joint combing operation by the CRPF and the State’s elite anti-Maoist force Special Operation Group (SOG).

The combing operation was carried out after the police received specific inputs regarding the presence of the explosives.

The materials seized from the site during the search operation include 28 steel pots, 20 kg of explosive materials, a flash camera, 20 metre of electric wire. It is suspected that the materials have been stock piled to make landmines. However, no one was arrested in this connection as no one was present at the spot.

Apart from this, some uniforms used by the rebels have also been recovered.

Meanwhile, combing operation and patrolling has been intensified in the entire area after the seizure inorder to prevent any major incident, in the view of the foundation week being celebrated by the rebels from September 21 to 27.
