Bhubaneswar: Two days after Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that all landless adivasis in the State would be given land in tribal sub-plan (TSP) blocks covering all 19,016 villages by 2016-17, the CPI on Sunday accused the State Government for its lack of concern over fulfilling its promise.
“The State government has announced that it will provide land to all landless adivasis by 2016-17. I don’t understand why it should take five long years for the Government to complete the distribution process,” senior CPI leader A B Bardhan told.
If the State Government is really concerned about the welfare of tribals, it can always make arrangements for providing landless adivasis with land within a year, Bardhan added.
However, Bardhan, welcomed the State Government’s protest against NALCO disinvestment and asked the State Government to make it a people’s agitation by involving other parties and organisations rather than staging isolated protests.
