13 Arrested in Utkal University Student Attack Case
Bhubaneswar: Based on an FIR filed by the students of the Utkal University, police on Thursday arrested nine more non-students in connection with the Utkal University student attack case.

It is noteworthy to mantion that, a group of masked assailants armed with baseball bats and rods had assaulted several post-graduate students of the University in the wee hours of Wednesday.

As many as seven students of Utkal University, including Utkal University Students’ Union president Tanmay Swain were critically injured in the incident and were hospitalised due to serious injuries.

The assailants had even burnt four motorcycles parked on the hostel premises.

With the arrest of these nine, the total number of arrests in this case rose to 13. Earlier on Wednesday four other youths were arrested by the police.

Meanwhile, according to the University Registrar, it has been decided to install CCTV cameras in all the four hostels and to install a biometric machines at the University main gate to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
