The Commission of enquiry team also held a meeting with senior officials of the concerned departments before going into the details of the records.
“We have sought files and records of 192 iron ore and manganese mines in Odisha. To begin with, the team discussed with state government officials on certain issued relating to the mining scam,” said U V Singh, the team leader and Principal Conservator of Forest in Karnataka.
Adding more Singh said that if required, the team may visit some mining sites in the state during the investigation.
The M.B. Shah Commission appointed by the central government in November 2010, has been investigating into the allegations of illegal mining in several mineral rich states of the country.
