Heavy Rains Lash Several Parts of Odisha, More to Follow in Next 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: Heavy showers lashed the capital city Bhubaneswar and its adjoining areas on Thursday, leaving the low-lying areas in the city inundated.

Apart from Bhubaneswar, other parts in the state, including Cuttack and Baripada too received heavy rain.

While Bhubaneswar received 32.3 mm rainfall, Cuttack received 19.2 mm and Baripada received 25.4 mm during the day. Among the other places in the State that experienced heavy showers include Balangir (16 mm), Chandbali (12 mm), Sundergarh (8 mm) and Keonjhar (7 mm).

The Meteorological Department has predicted that the interior & the coastal parts of Odisha are likely to receive more rains in the next 24 hours due to the trough line between the Himalayas & Telengana region.

The monsoon is likely to withdraw from Odisha by the second week of October, sources from Meteorological Department said.
