CPI activists staging dharna protesting cooking gas price hike in Bhubaneswar on Sunday
Bhubaneswar: The BJD Mahila Morcha is gearing itself up for a protest against the UPA II government’s decision of hike of Rs 12 per cylinder of cooking gas.

The Mahila morcha units of the party will hold protest in front of Raj Bhavan, Bhubaneswar on October 09, 2012, to rescind this move, which the Morcha said is anti-poor and hurts women the most.

Recently the Centre had hiked price of diesel by Rs 5 and had put a cap on supply of subsidised cooking gas to 6 cylinders of 14.2-kg size per household in a year. Now the increase in the price of the subsidised LPG cylinder will further burden the common man. People now will be forced to purchase them from the open market paying a high amount of money, the Morcha said.

It is noteworthy to mention that the Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BJYD) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) had staged protests on October 07, 2012, urging the Center to immediately rollback the decision and had threatened to launch a Statewide protest if the decision is not rollbacked soon.
