Bhubaneswar: An expert team of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), who is in charge of maintenance of the 12th century Jagannath Temple in Puri will visit the temple today.
It is noteworthy to mention that a piece of limestone plaster weighingabout 15 kilograms loosened and fell from dome of the main temple of the Sri Jagannath temple on Sunday, creating panic amongst the devotees and injuring a temple servitor.
The injured has been identified as Devi Prasad Panda.
The incident took place in the evening when Panda was taking some visitors with him for a darshan of Lord Jagannath. All of a sudden, according to some eyewitnesses, a stone came rolling from the top of the temple and hit Panda on his head.
Panda had sustained minor injuries on his head and body and was shifted to the district head quarter hospital.
A similar incident had occured on November 01, 2011, when a stone slab weighing about a ton had fell from the roof of the western entrance of the shrine.
