The award comprising a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a letter of appreciation would be presented at a function at Utkal Mandap open air auditorium, Bhubaneswar on October 12, the birth anniversary of legendary Odia singer and musician Akshaya Mohanty.
This was announced on Monday by the city based Akshaya Mohanty Foundation, which gives the award.
The past recipients of the honour include Dada Sahed Phalke awardee singer Manna De, acclaimed poet-filmmaker Gulzar, Flutist Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, multi-talented music composer Ilayaraja and legendary playback singerAsha Bhonsle.
Born on March 2, 1933, Anandji has scored music in as many as 250 films and has introduced new talents like Manohar Udhas, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yajnik, Sadhana Sargam, Sapna Mukherjee and Sunidhi Chauhan into Bollywood.
