It is noteworthy to mention that, the Centre on Saturday announced a hike in cooking gas price by Rs. 11.42 per cylinder.

Recently the Centre had hiked price of diesel by Rs 5 and had put a cap on supply of subsidised cooking gas to 6 cylinders of 14.2-kg size per household in a year.

The Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BJYD) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) had staged similar protests on October 07, 2012 demanding the rollback of the price. They had also threatened to launch a Statewide agitation against the hike.
