Plaster Fall in Puri Jagannath Temple: ASI Officials Inspect Temple

Bhubaneswar: An expert team headed by Jeetendra Kumar Pattnaik, Deputy Superintendent of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI), who is in charge of maintenance of the 12^th century Jagannath Temple in Puri examined the limestone plaster on different structures inside the temple complex on Monday.

The expert team is likely to submit a report to the technical committee of the temple administration soon. The technical committee is expected to meet subsequently to discuss the status of various structures.

It is noteworthy to mention that a piece of limestone plaster loosened and fell from dome of the main temple of the Sri Jagannath temple on Sunday, creating panic amongst the devotees and injuring a temple servitor named Devi Prasad Panda.

The incident took place in the evening when Panda was taking some visitors with him for a darshan of Lord Jagannath.

Panda had sustained minor injuries on his head and body and is currently undergoing treatment in the district head quarter hospital.
