Bhubaneshwar: At least two Maoists were arrested and three detonators were recovered from two different areas of the State, on Tuesday, police sources said.
A Maoist identified as Pada Gumisingu, an associate of Maoist leader Nikhil was nabbed from near Kumbikota in Rayagada district.
As many as three detonators attached with a tiffin box were recovered from him. He has been involved in several ultra activities in the district for the past seven years.
Another Maoist identified as Raghu Nayak was arrested from Birikot in Gajapati district. Nayak was allegedly involved in torching of several mobile towers at Raipanka and Birikot and burning of a bus at Raipanka
Meanwhile, combing operations at several strategic locations are being carried out on a regular basis in the locality in an effort to put a check on Maoist operations, sources said.
