Bhubaneswar: Shri Badri Narayan Patra Hon’ble Minister, Higher Education on Wednesday said that the college and university authorities have been empowered to cancel the student union polls in their respective institutions in case of anti-poll activities beyond their controlling limits.
The State government on October 2 had announced the notification for the polls which will be held across the state on October 19 for academic session 2012-13.
As per the notification of the Department of Higher Education, nomination paper can be filed between 9 am and 12 o’clock on October 12. Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done on the same day afternoon — from 2 pm to 4 pm. While the list of valid nomination papers will be published at 11 am on October 13, students can withdraw their nomination papers on the same day between 2 pm and 4 pm. The final list of candidates will be published at 5 pm.
The ‘Why I Stand For’ meeting will be held on October 18, while elections will take place between 8 am and 2 pm on October 19 and the result is scheduled to be declared on the same date after counting the votes. The oath taking ceremony will be held on October 20 according to the notification.
