Bhubaneswar: The State unit of Congress on Thursday sought Rs 300 as an incentive bonus per quintal of paddy to farmers on the minimum support price or else the party would hit the streets to register its protest against the same.
Accusing the ruling BJD Government of being anti-farmers Congress said that the Government has miserably failed to provide them with basic facilities like water, fertilisers, seeds and insecticides in time.
Stating that the BJD Government has failed to protect the interests of the farmers, OPCC President Niranjan Patnaik said, “Odisha government must declare a minimum bonus of Rs 300 per quintal over and above the MSP in view of plight of the farmers.
Adding more Patnaik said, the party leaders during their eight-day long ‘Parivartan Padyatra’came to know about the problems of farmers who spent double the money this time than investment made in last Kharif.
