The decision to revoke the suspension has been conveyed by Mr. John H Stein, Acting Vice-President, World Bank (South Asia Region) in a letter to Odisha Chief Secretary Shri B. K Patnaik.
The bank had suspended further loans in May 2011 after it was found that the Project Implementation Unit (PMU) had settled work tenders for three different road projects namely, Bhawanipatna-Khariar, Brahmapur-Taptapani and Bhadrak-Chandbali, in favour of a single contractor.
Moreover, the work orders were issued without acquiring land and settling rehabilitation issues. Besides, utilities such as power and phone lines had not been shifted as required.
