Bhubaneswar: Lambodar Kanhar, convener of Kui Samaj Samanoya Samiti (KSSS), who was jailed for allegedly assaulting job seekers from outside Kandhamal district, was granted bail on Tuesday.
District Sessions Judge SC Mohapatra granted bail to Kanhar. However, Kanhar is to be released today.
Kanhar was arrested by police on October 11 for allegedly misbehaving and physically assaulting some of the Sikhya Sahayak aspirants in Kandhamal district, who were there for the certificate verification on October 9.
The arrest came following three cases lodged against Kanhar and his associates by Sabita Nayak of Phulbani, Bilasa Behera of Boudh and Sudhanshu Kumar Bhadra of Jajpur, for their alleged involvement in the assault on the Sikhya Sahayak candidates.
It is noteworthy to mention that Kanhar and his associates had drove away the job seekers hailing from outside Kandhamal, demanding that the posts must be reserved for the candidates from the district.
