Bhubaneswar: After a long wait, the State Government’s ambitious flyover project at Rajmahal Square was finally inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.
It is noteworthy to mention that, with the aim to cope with fast-growing traffic at Rajmahal Square, one of the busiest traffic junctions of the State, the State Government had embarked upon the project. The work for the Rs 37.45 crore Rajmahal Square flyover with 30 spans started in March 2009. Though the previous deadline for the completion of the flyover was set for June 30, the authorities jumped the deadline by more than three months.
The six-lane flyover, 560-metre-long flyover connects AG Square with Kalpana Square and would facilitate smooth vehicular movement between the two routes. Apart from this a four-lane underground road is laid between Master Canteen Square and Sishu Bhawan.
Among others Dr. Prasanna Patsani, Hon’ble MP, Bhubaneswar, Shri Ashok Kumar Panda, Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneswar-Ekamra, Shri Bijaya Kumar Mohanty, Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneswar-Central, Shri Bhagirathi Badajena, Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneswar-North and BMC Mayor Ananta Narayana Jena were present.
