Bhubaneswar: In an huge relief for the state-unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), party’s central election officer Thabarchand Gehlot on Friday gave nod for polls in 27 organisational districts of Odisha.
BJP sources said the party has 37 organisational districts in the State. So polls in the remaining 10 districts would be held after the alleged irregularities relating to factionalism were resolved.
Earlier on October 20, The organisational election process of the State BJP unit was halted midway as per the instruction of Gehlot following allegations of large-scale irregularities in the membership drive and tampering with the electoral rolls.
“I have received allegations of irregularities in the organsiational elections of Odisha BJP. I am looking into the complaints. Kindly suspend the organizational polls till further instruction,” Gehlot had said in a letter to the State BJP Election Officer Basanta Kumar Panda.
