Bhubaneswar: Noted writer and administrator Dr Hrushikesh Panda was conferred with the coveted Sarala Award for his novel – ‘Garba Karibara Katha’.
The award, comprising a citation, a plaque and 2.5 lakh in cash, was presented to Panda by noted Hindi writer and Kendra Sahitya Academy Vice-President Viswanath Prasad Tiwari at a special function held on October 26 at Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
Dr. Panda has now become the 33rd winner of the literary award.
Two more notable personalities of the State, Musician Banamali Maharana and social worker Padma Charan Nayak were also honoured for their valuable contributions in their respective fields. They received a cash award of Rs 51,000 each along with citations.
The Sarala Award to glorify Odia literature has been instituted by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT), the charitable wing of the IMFA Group since 1978.
A number of literary personalities from various walks of life were present at the award ceremony.
