Bhubaneswar: Travelling by ordinary, express, deluxe and AC coach buses will now cost more as the State Government on Tuesday hiked the bus fare in the State bowing to the pressure of the Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association, who had threatened to stop plying of buses from November 1 in the State, demanding hike in the bus fare, in view of the latest hike in diesel prices by Rs 5 per litre in September.
While the bus fare per km for ordinary and express buses was hiked by five paisa per km, in case of deluxe and AC coach buses, the fare was increased by six and eight paisa per km respectively.
As per the new fare structure, which will be effective from November 1, ordinary buses will charge 55 paise instead of 50 paise per km while express bus fare has been increased from 53 paise to 58 paise.
Similarly, Deluxe buses will charge 76 paise per km instead of 70 and AC deluxe buses will charge 93 paise instead of 85 paise per km.
