Bhubaneswar: As per the direction of the Judicial Commission headed by Justice P K Mohanty appointed by the State Government to probe into the sensational Pipili gangrape case, Former Odisha minister and BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy filed an affidavit on the incident before the Commission on Wednesday.

Maharathy in his affidavit denied any role in the case.

Apart from Maharathy the State DGP and Home Secretary also filed their affidavits in the matter.

The Commission had summoned them on October 8 to submit their affidavits by October 31 and to put forth their point of view on the matter, taking cognizance of the petitions filed by a lawyer Nishikant Mishra and the victim’s father. Both of them had alleged that Maharathy was involved in the incident as he had shielded the accused persons.

It is noteworthy to mention that The 19-year-old dalit girl was allegedly raped and attempts were made to murder her by strangulation at Pipili on November 29, 2011. Since then the victim was in a comatose state. After battling for her life for over six months in coma she succumed to death on June 21, 2012.

So far, as many as 66 affidavits have been filed before the Commission in the case. The next hearing of the Commission will be held on November 16.
