Bhubaneswar: In a huge relief for the domestic LPG consumers, the State Government on Wednesday cleared that there would be no LPG disconnection for genuine consumers and that they will continue to get their refills.
A meeting of the representatives of oil PSUs and LPG distributors was held at the State Secretariat on Wednesday. The national oil companies were asked to give wider publicity of the issue and clear the confusion among consumers. The meeting was presided by Odisha State Civil Supplies Secretary, Madhusudan Padhi.
Padhi after the meeting informed that the ongoing submission of Know Your Customer (KYC) forms is a drive meant to weed out the non-genuine consumers, a consumer having multiple connections and ghost consumers. The genuine consumers need not have to worry over this.
However, in case of disconnection of a genuine consumer, one can reach the State Government’s Sanjog Helpline (Toll free-155335) for redressal of their grievances. Then action would be taken against the errant distributors if found guilty regarding any such disconnection.
The Centre on Tuesday had extended the last date of submitting KYC forms till November 15. Earlier the state-owned oil companies had asked the consumers to submit their KYC forms duly filled by October 31.
It is noteworthy to mention that the Central Government had last month decided to limit the number of subsidised LPG cylinders to a family to six in a year to come into effect from April, 2013.
