Bhubaneswar: Indian Red Cross Society in collaboration with UNICEF observed the Global Hand Washing Day in the state capital on November 19, 2012.
A vibrant band of more than Eight hundred Red Cross volunteers from the Junior and Youth wings from varied educational institutions of the capital city rallied from the Master Canteen Square shouting slogans on the significance of cleanliness with a motive to create awareness among the civil society.
Later, rhe group was gathered in the auditorium of the Capital High School in order to celebrate the occasion.
The students presented entertaining skits and play carrying subtle messages highlighting the importance of hand washing for a healthy life.
Among others, Dr. Damodar Rout, Minister, Health and Family Welfare, Mr Mangala Prashad Mohanty, Honorary Secretary, IRCS, Mr. Rabinarayan Narayan Nanda, Minister School and Mass Education, Brecht Mommen, Wash specialist, UNICEF, graced the occasion as guests.
A demonstration on hand washing was practised by the dignitaries and the Students/volunteers and media personals to promote the significance of hand washing.
