Bhubaneswar: The 53rd Annual Conference of the Association of Microbiologists of India on ‘Microbial World: Recent Innovations and Future Trends’, is being organized by KIIT University from 22-25 November 2012.
Shri M. C. Bhandare, His Excellency the Governor of Odisha formally inaugurated this prestigious conference on November 23, 2012.
More than 2000 delegates from different parts of the world are participating in the meet and the International Conference. Participants include 350 leading academicians and researchers from 15 countries, including India, France, Germany, USA, Switzerland, Japan, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Nigeria and Indonesia, and scientists from national laboratories like CSIR, DST, DBT, ICAR and ICMR.
The four-day conference will deliberate upon ever shifting boundaries between the known and the unknown about microorganisms due to amazing advances over the past two decades. It is being organized by KIIT University’s School of Biotechnology (KSBT), which has emerged as a centre of excellence in the field of biotechnology education and research.
The conference will also feature poster presentations in different areas like Agriculture, Environment, Food and Dairy, Industrial, Medical and Veterinary, Molecular microbiology and Biotechnology. Apart from this, special sessions on genomics and proteomics and parallel sessions on environmental microbiology, virology, nanobiotechnology, biodeterioration and biodegradation, translational and diagnostic microbiology, medical microbiology, molecular microbiology, industrial microbiology, food, agriculture and veterinary microbiology, biotransformation and bioenergy and microbial diversity will also be held.
