Maoist Menace
Maoists kill two in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: A day after police arrested five hardcore Maoists in Koraput district, Maoist rebels on Sunday striked back by killing two persons, suspecting them to be acting as police informers, police sources said.

The deceased have been identified as Bandhu Saraka and Gato Huika of Kumbhariput village under the Maoist-affected Bandhugaon police limits.

Over 100 armed rebels had forced the two to accompany them, who were dragged out of their homes and then slit their throats.

Later, the ultras attacked a construction site and set ablaze road construction equipment, including a truck, one road roller, two JCB machines and one grinder machine , as they were opposing the road construction work.

The Maoists left the place immediately after damaging the equipments; the SP said adding that combing operations have been intensified in the area.

Maoists are active in more than half of Odisha’s 30 districts. The district of Koraput is considered one of their strongholds.
