Bhubaneswar: Maoists Monday killed a local leader in Odisha’s Malkangiri district,suspecting him to be apolice informer, two days after abducting him, police said.
38-year-old Kosa Madhi of Sangel village under Kalimela police station, secretary of local Panipanchyat, was kidnapped by the ultras on Friday when they triggered a blast with explosives and destroyed the bridge over river Poteru apparently to stop movement of security personnel between Kalimela and Padia.
The villagers spotted the body and informed the police.
Maoists are active in more than half of the state’s 30 districts. Malkangiri district, over 600 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, is a Maoist stronghold.
