Bhubaneswar: The All Odisha Truck Owners’ Association on Wednesday night “deferred” their proposed indefinite strike from midnight of January 16, after their discussion with Commerce and Transport Minister Subrat Tarai.

“We have decided to call off the strike following the written assurance made by the state government regarding the fulfilment of our seven-point demands including suo motu revision of freight charges,” said Rabi Satpathy, President, All Odisha Truck Owners’ Federation.

The government has also assured the association that the government would not involve any private firm to issue fitness certificates to trucks, Satpathy added.
