National Level Industrial Exhibition of UCCI Concludes


Bhubaneswar: The 5-day long National Level Industrial Exhibition-cum-Seminar, titled “Odisha Moves Forward” organized by Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI) in the capital city of the state, came to an end on Wednesday.

On the valedictory ceremony, Utkal Chamber awarded different Industrial Houses and successful Entrepreneurs for outstanding contribution in different fields of Industry, business and services. In this occasion the Chamber also distributed digital hearing aids to hearing impaired children.

Mr. Arun Kumar Sahoo, Chief Guest of the evening highlighted the growth of the state in the last decade. “The state has highest poverty reduction rate at 24.6% in the country and the per capita income has grown from Rs 14,882 in 1999 to Rs 27,000 now. It is also the second highest state in FDI”, he said. He appreciated the Corporate, Industry and Service Sectors for their participation in the development of the State.

“Bringing all the energy related corporations under one roof, a Shakti Bhawan is planned to be constructed very soon. Corporations like OHPC, OPGC, NSPC, GDCL, GRIDCO, and NTPC will rehabilitate their offices into the building,” he further informed.

“With a 6 million ton steel plant Kalinga Nagar project will repeat history that was written in Jamshedpur few years ago”, said Mr. Arun Kumar Mishra, Head, Kalinga Nagar TATA Steel Project. He appealed to the corporate industries to partner in the progress of the state in a long run.

Wealth creation comes from a strong enterprise base and culture of entrepreneurship in a state thus the role of Corporate and Industries are crucial in every society. Participating in the occasion as guest of honour, Mr. Vishal Dev, Secretary, Industry Dept. & CMD, IDCO and Mr. Panchanan Dash, Secretary, MSME Dept invited the members of Utkal Chamber to add value to the state through different business innovation and enterprises.

Mr. Ramesh Mahapatra, President, Utkal Chamber welcomed the guests and sought the support of both large scale and MSME to partner into the growth of the state. Mr. Debabrata Dash, Secretary, Utkal Chamber offered vote of thanks.

A seminar on “From Exclusion to Inclusion, Promotion of Universal Accessibility” was organized by the CSR and CD committee of Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI) at the conference hall of the Chamber.

Dr. Kashturi Mohapatra, Chairperson, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Ram Kishore Sharma, Rehabilitation Officer, Ministry of Labour & Employment, DGE&T, Ms. Anjilee Agarwal, Samarthyam, National Centre for Accessible Environments, Mrs. Arati Ahuja, Principal Secretary to Government, Women and Child Development Department, and Mr. Arun Mishra, Deputy Vice President, TATA steel Ltd. (Kalinga Nagar Project) participated and put forward their views to find an amicable solution to the issue.

Among others, the valedictory session, attended by Mr. Arun Kumar Sahoo, Minister for Energy, Information & Public Relations; Mr. Vishal Dev, Secretary, Industry Dept. & CMD, IDCO; Mr. Panchanan Dash, Secretary, MSME Dept.; and Mr. Arun Mishra, Head, TATA Steel, Kalinga Nagar Project congratulated the members of the Chamber for the completion of 50 Years.
