Shri Amiya Kumar Samal from Dept. of Geology, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has got the Young Scientist award-2016 from Indian Science Congress in its 103rd session at Mysore held during 3rd to 7th January, 2016.
He received this award from Shri H. D. Deve Gowda, Former prime Minister of India and his excellency Shri Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, Govrener of Karnatka.
He belongs to Jajpur district of Odisha. After completing his B.Sc. Geology (Hons.) from Ravenshaw University and M.Sc. (Tech.) Geology from Banaras Hindu University, he is continuing his research work under the supervision of Prof. Rajesh K. Srivastava at BHU. He is presently the Senior Research Fellow (SRF) of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). His research work is based on Paleoproterozoic mafic dykes of Dharwar Craton, Southern India and well appreciated by the Jury members.
