Bhubaneswar: Three days State level Refresher Training Programme for FMR Volunteers of seven districts of Odisha has been organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch(IRCS-OSB) from 29th to 31st March, 2016 at Red Cross Bhavan Bhubaneswar in one day basis with the objective to refresh the FMR activities & enhance the capacity of Red Cross volunteers to deliver emergency health services and psychological support during disaster.
Dr. Chakradhar Panda, Honorary Secretary, IRCS-OSB inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp & garlanding the portrait of Sir Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of Red Cross. He welcomed all the participants and highlighted the objective of the training programme. Besides, he encouraged the volunteers to implement the programme at local level & provide effective service at the time of need by following the Seven Fundamental Principles of Red Cross. Sri Govinda Chandra Mahunta, Honorary Joint Secretary, IRCS-OSB, Dr. Kalpana Das, Youth Red Cross Officer, Sri Dilip Kumar Mohanty, Programme Officer(Health), Sri Raj Kishore Mohapatra, Junior Red Cross Officer joined as Guest of Honour on this occasion.
More than 80 FMR Volunteers from Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack, Ganjam, Dhenkanal, Sonepur district participated in the training programme. The participants were trained on Red Cross History, Fundamental Principles & Emblem of Red Cross, First Medical Responder, Basic First Aid, Safe handling & transporting of the casualty, basic life support, psychological support, TRIAGE in emergency, Coordination Mechanism, Contingency Planning, Dead Body Management, Restoring Family Link and Sanitation & Hygiene promotion etc. in these three days training programme. The State level FMR instructors facilitated the training programme as the Resource Persons and trained the volunteers. Sri Bijay Kumar Mohapatra, DM Coordinator, IRCS-OSB coordinated the three days training programme and offered vote of thanks at the end of the session.
